Firm ProfileASA Engineering & Surveying, Inc. provides various professional services such as boundary and topographic surveys, environmental consulting and permitting, subdivision planning and design, roadway planning and design, sewage treatment system designs, drinking water system designs, storm water system designs, erosion and sediment control designs, commercial site planning and grading, environmental/wetland mapping and permitting, traffic engineering services, and NPDES environmental permitting and monitoring, and construction administration. ASA provides services for various types of entities including federal, state, and local government agencies, private owners and developers, architects, and builders.In 1988, Albert E. Slone, R.L.S. formed the surveying firm, Albert E. Slone and Associates. He started out with one other employee to provide surveying services in the South Georgia region. Mr. Slone gained an industry-wide reputation as being a leader in the high tech field of surveying technology. Through the years, he has added other survey crews, CAD drafters, and engineering staff to provide "full service" surveying and engineering. In 1995, Michael O. Cooper, a registered land surveyor with over 18 years of experience, joined ASA. As ASA’s Survey Manager, Mr. Cooper supervises and manages professional services as they relate to various surveying, environmental and engineering projects. Project experience includes preparation of ALTA, boundary and topographic surveys, wetland mapping and mitigation, site design, conceptual planning, feasibility studies and environmental site assessments. Michael is responsible for project planning, quality management, cost estimates and for managing resources to ensure that all contracted services are performed effectively and efficiently. In 1996, Mr. Slone added registered professional engineering staff to further expand ASA’s engineering design services and, in 1997, the firm relocated to downtown Valdosta and became ASA Engineering & Surveying, Inc. ASA purchased and renovated the historic building at 105 W. Central Avenue in downtown Valdosta, the current office location. In 2003, ASA added key senior personnel, Mike A. Wilson, Project Engineer/CAD Manager, who has over 19 years of surveying and engineering experience. Mike is in charge of ASA’s CAD engineering department including development, maintenance and implementation of CAD procedures and software, quality control, design standards, and engineering plan production. As project engineer, Mike provides civil engineering design and field engineering, and has extensive experience in site planning and layout, roadway design, grading plans, drainage/storm water calculations, sewer and water design, erosion control design, and infrastructure planning/design. In 2010, David W. Cake, P.E., joined the firm to continue ASA’s strong offering of engineering and consulting services. Mr. Cake serves as ASA’s Director of Engineering and brings 17 years of engineering experience on projects across Georgia and the Southeast. David’s is a hands-on customer service oriented engineer with extensive engineering, project management and design experience on many different types of projects. David will lead ASA’s engineering department and design teams and his technical skills, leadership qualities, and dedication will prove invaluable to our company and in serving the needs of our clients. ASA Engineering and Surveying, Inc. has provided hundreds of construction plans for infrastructure improvements across Georgia and the Southeast region since 1988. ASA’s successful consulting practice has been built on client responsiveness and quality of work. Over 85% of our business has been provided by repeat clients. This extent of repeat business attests to the high quality of work performed by ASA, ASA superior customer service, and compliance with cost and schedule restrictions. ASA has gained a reputation for providing quality, complete, accurate and cost-effective designs and services. The City of Valdosta and Lowndes County Engineering and Utility staff personnel have recognized our abilities and professional standards in providing a full range of engineering and surveying services. Recently, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Environmental Protection Division has singled out our construction and erosion control plans as a model for others to use. The EPD Drinking Water Division has also recognized our abilities by recommending us to assist water system operators in permitting community water systems throughout South Georgia. The Georgia Department of Transportation – Utilities Division recently praised our efforts in providing complete and accurate utility permit drawings. |
